Ethos travels to Exeter on June 4th for the first Ethos Connect networking event outside London. The event, organised by partner Chris Lorimer, (also chair of the Exeter Sustainable Business Network), is a response to significant interest in the values and approach of the organisation. Lorimer, who lives just outside Exeter, commented “We have had lots of interest from a wide variety of entrepreneurs, successful consultants, and public servants who are interested in what Ethos has to offer. We have 14 potential partners booked into this event and a significant waiting list. People are very interested in being part of a values-based organisation and collaborating on projects that will impact both across the South West and further afield.”
Exeter, with a population of 120,000, is rapidly growing and has attracted significant businesses over the last decade , including the Met Office. Significant investment in infrastructure and business space, including a rapidly expanding University and a new science park, has acted as a magnet for entrepreneurial talent who are looking to swap commuter life in other parts of the UK for an enviable lifestyle within the region. Lorimer continued, “Just because we have a glorious way of life in Devon, it doesn’t mean we aren’t ambitious to tackle regional and global issues. In many ways, the relatively small size of Exeter means it is easier to influence the key movers and shakers and get things done. It’s worth noting that Exeter has more climate scientists than any of city in the world and is setting the pace in areas as diverse as sustainability and sport to economic development and energy supply.”
Rob Pye, founder of Ethos, forms part of the team leading Exeter Ethos Connect said “Exeter have thrown down the gauntlet to other Cities where Ethos partners operate – I’m really excited to get involved and meet potential partners”
