Reni, age 23, is a graduate of Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh: "When I joined Young Leaders I felt empowered, knowing that I can be a representative of someone with disabilities that creates inspiring content that is a worthy contribution to a culturally rich workforce. Being autistic has altered my character, and I have so much to offer through the unique nature of my work, and bringing this into professional development means a lot to me. COVID has radically altered work spaces, and has made working from home the societal norm. For me the opportunity to work from home, particularly for video editing, was a welcome change, and I am used to the required self-discipline. As someone who sees the world differently, two things in particular interest me about the world; creative expression and the nature of people. I am a deeply empathetic individual: since joining I have collaborated with Ethos Partners and other Young Leaders on a variety of digital projects. To mention a few, I have contributed to the refinement of the technology for Sardines inclusive digital conferencing and met the challenge of editing a podcast video about accessibility, and the use of sign language: I am working with 1TeamActive on an exercise video series, I am developing a podcast for the Ethos Place team, and am working in the marketing team, and contributed a piece about my own personal experience of autism for aspect magazine. I’m really enjoying this new place I’ve found within Ethos, and I hope to continue this streak of learning and creation! I feel trusted to get things done. It's very affirming.
